Anna Gunn

Anna Gunn was born in the United States. Her best-known role is Skyler White in the AMC drama Breaking Bad, for which she received the Primetime Emmy Award in 2013 and 2014. Both awards were for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. As well as playing Martha Bullock and Jean Ward and Jean Ward, she also appeared in The Practice. Anna Gunn, born 1968 in Sante Fe New Mexico fell in love with acting in preparation for her first job before moving her family from New Mexico to Ohio. She attended Northwestern University to study theatre and was also a student at the British American Drama Academy. Anna worked in Chicago's theatre for several years, before making a move to film and television. In 1992 Anna landed her first big part in the role of Arden in 29 episodes in the series Down the Shore. The actress continued to make appearances as guest stars on a few TV shows and movies, such as Seinfeld and NYPD Blue until the late 1990's when she appeared in a role that she reprised in The Practice as Jean Ward in The Practice. She was cast as Martha Bullock in Deadwood for two seasons during the 2000s. In 2008 she was also cast in the role of Skyler as Skyler in Breaking Bad. Sully as well as Deadwood were also in her oeuvre. Gunn did not stop at the stage to play in the David Schwimmer-directed production of Sex With Strangers. Gunn also appeared in the show the podcast Numbered Day comprised of four audio dramas. The love story between Walter White and his wife Skyler tends to be the central theme of the story that is told in Breaking Bad with the strained tension in their relationship, and the eventual end of their relationship mirroring the same arc of Walter White's final years of life.
